Baptists are a people who profess a living faith. This faith is rooted and grounded in Jesus Christ
who is “the same yesterday, and to-day, and for ever.” Therefore, the sole authority for faith and
practice among Baptists is Jesus Christ whose will is revealed in the Holy Scriptures.
What We Believe
There is only one living and true God who reveals Himself to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit whom have distinct personal attributes. God the Father reigns over His universe with care over it and His creatures according to the purposes of His grace. God the Father is all knowing, loving, wise and powerful. He is fatherly in His attitude towards all men and women. Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He identified Himself completely with mankind and carried out the will of God perfectly and without sin. On the cross he provided a way for men and women to be freed from sin. He was raised from the dead with a glorified body and is now exalted at the right hand of God where he is the only mediator between God and man. With power and glory he will return to judge the world. Now He dwells in all believers as the living and ever present Lord. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God. The scriptures are the writing of men inspired by the Holy Spirit. He enables men and women to understand the truth through illumination. While exalting Christ He convicts men of sin, righteousness and judgement. He calls men and women to the savior to renew their hearts (minds), cultivating a Christian character, comforting believers and bestowing spiritual gifts by which they serve God through His church. He enlightens and empowers the believer and the church in worship, evangelism, service and seals the believer unto the day of final redemption.
